François Feuillebois

François Feuillebois, who died on 21st December 2021 at the age of 75, was a member of the PMMH lab during a decade. Directeur de recherche at the CNRS, he was an expert of hydrodynamics of particle suspensions in viscous fluids, of creeping flows, of hydrodynamic and thermal interactions between particles, of hydrodynamic interactions between particles and walls, and of dynamics of droplets with impact and freezing. His approach combined theory, applied mathematics, and a strong interest for experiments. He authored and co-authored a hundred of publications since he entered the CNRS in 1975.
His colleagues and students were very fond of the subtlety of his thought, and also of the simplicity and kindness of his character. Abroad, he developed strong connexions with his collaborators from Cambridge University, the Academy of Science of Poland, the Academy of Science of Bulgaria, the Ecole Polytechnique of Tunisia, the Academy of Science of Russia… His work and life will remain inspiring for his friends and colleagues.
